RTA extended Metro timings to accommodate travellers influx
The Dubai International Airport is expected to witness a rush as many residents return after the summer break
Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the operating hours of the Dubai Metro will be extended over the weekend to accommodate the influx of returning residents after the summer break.
The extended operating hours will be from 5 am to 2 am on Saturday, August 24, and from 8 am to 2 am on Sunday, August 25. This decision comes in anticipation of a significant increase in passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport (DXB) as residents return from their summer holidays.
Dubai International Airport braces for passenger surge
Dubai International Airport is expected to handle a massive 3.43 million guests over the next 13 days. The airport anticipates the busiest day to be September 1, with an expected influx of 291,000 guests.
Record-breaking passenger traffic
Dubai has already witnessed a record-breaking number of visitors this year, with 44.9 million guests welcomed during the first six months. The extension of Dubai Metro hours is a proactive measure to ensure efficient transportation for residents returning to the city.
